Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 Delayed While Focus Teases “Major New Project” by Asobo

Today Focus Home Interactive had a few reveals to share about its upcoming games, starting with a delay of Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2

According to the press release, the grimdark game will now be launched in the second half of 2024, considerably later compared to its previous 2023 release window.

That being said, we’ll soon know exactly when it’ll launch, as Focus plans to announce the release date in early December. While the publisher doesn’t mention it, it’s possible that the announcement will come at The Game Awards.

“Emperor protects! looks like I’m going to be late!”

The delay is motivated with “providing the time needed to properly polish the game and to ensure the best possible experience,” with focus committed to “releasing a game that is of the highest quality and that exceeds the expectations of the countless fans of the franchise.”

Incidentally, we also learn that the game has passed over a million wishlists, so it’s not surprising that Focus is feeling the pressure.

On top of that, we learn that Asobo’s A Plague Tale: Requiem has passed 3 million players, and Focus has decided to renew the partnership with the studio (which also works for Microsoft on Microsoft Flight Simulator and its successor Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024).

Interestingly, the partnership involves a “major new project” albeit the announcement does not provide further details.

Lastly, Focus announced a new partnership with Afterburner Studios to create a new co-owned IP. The studio is known for having released Dreamscaper in 2021, which our Tyler Chancey reviewed positively, awarding it with an 8.5 out of 10.
