Rapper Killer Mike escorted from Grammys venue and arrested after alleged altercation

LOS ANGELES — Rapper Killer Mike was arrested Sunday after being detained for questioning and escorted out of the Grammys venue in connection with an altercation, according to police.

The Los Angeles Police Department said a man was detained and handcuffed Sunday afternoon in connection with a “physical altercation.” He was later placed under arrest and taken to LAPD’s Central Division, the department said on X.

Police identified the man as Michael Render, which is Killer Mike’s real name. He was booked on a charge of misdemeanor battery and was in the process of being released, police said Sunday night.

In the LAPD post, police said the altercation occurred in the 700 block of Chick Hearn Court, which is where Crypto.com Arena is located.

Additional details about the alleged altercation have not been released.

Earlier in the afternoon, Killer Mike won three Grammy awards at the pre-show Premiere Ceremony, for best rap performance, best rap song and best rap album.

Representatives for Killer Mike and for the Grammys did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
