Overwatch 2 Survey Reveals Dozens of Potential New Skins

Highlights

  • Overwatch 2 fans were intrigued by skin concepts in a recent survey, showcasing unique and imaginative designs for the heroes.
  • While the skins are currently just concepts, the official nature of the concept art suggests they could potentially be added to the game in the future.
  • Not all fans were equally optimistic, with some expressing skepticism about the cost of cosmetics and the likelihood of certain concepts making it into the game.

An Overwatch 2 fan recently leaked dozens of new skin ideas they received in a Blizzard survey. While there is no guarantee these skins will appear in Overwatch 2, the concepts would be incredible additions to the Hero Gallery if they did.

Though primarily a competitive PvP shooter, cosmetics in Overwatch are nearly as important to many players as the mechanics of the game itself–especially skins. Blizzard has added hundreds of them to the game over the years, and each new season in Overwatch 2 brings over a dozen skins spread across the shop, Battle Pass, and in-game events.

Overwatch 2 Adds New Way to Get Some Exclusive Skins

Overwatch 2 adds a new way to get premium skins from Season 8, as well as some popular skins that haven’t been seen in the game for months.

Recently, Reddit user Transflection shared a collection of images that suggest Overwatch 2 could be cooking up a bunch of new skins. These pictures, sent to them via a survey from Blizzard, depict dozens of concepts for new Overwatch 2 skins. From modern fashion to high fantasy, these incredible skin ideas render the heroes of Overwatch 2 in some unique ways. According to Transflection, the survey asked them if the theme of the skins was clear and cohesive, if they played the characters in the images, and if they would buy them.

Overwatch 2 Skin Concepts

  • Harjuku/80’s style Kiriko, Mei, and Sombra.
  • Gothic Lolita cat-themed Kiriko (x2), Widowmaker, Mei, Brigitte, Reaper, Mercy, and Ashe.
  • Toxic hazmat Doomfist, Kiriko, Tracer, and Winston.
  • Celestial Moira, Mei, Zenyatta, and Tracer.
  • Chinese-themed Echo, Mei, Reinhardt, and Mauga.
  • Winter outfits for Kiriko (x2), Widowmaker, and Genji.
  • Alice in Wonderland D.Va, Junkrat, Tracer, and Junker Queen.
  • Masquerade Cassidy, Mercy, and Ana.
  • Fantasy Legendary skins for Mauga, Lifeweaver, Sigma, Brigitte, Hanzo, Genji, Junker Queen, Ramattra, Reaper, and Orisa.

It is important to note that these skins are only concepts for the time being. There is no guarantee some, or even any, of these skins will be added to Overwatch 2 in the future. That said, Transflection shared screenshots of the email they received, so the concept art is almost certainly official, meaning players could potentially see these skins in the future.

Fans immediately fell in love with many of these skin concepts. The Chinese panda Mauga skin and the Harajuku style skins got an especially vocal amount of love from the near-400 comments Transflection’s post received. However, some viewed the gallery with more skepticism, criticizing the cost of Overwatch 2 cosmetics, lamenting that many of these concepts probably won’t make it into the game, or pointing out the favoritism shown by Kiriko getting six concepts out of the 44 in the gallery.

Either way, Overwatch 2 fans are going to have some awesome skins to look forward to in the future. At BlizzCon, Overwatch 2 teased an Eldritch Horror, Mirror Universe, and Egyptian mythology themes for some of the game’s future seasons, leading fans to already begin guessing which heroes will be highlighted during these content periods. While none of these skin concepts seem to fit those upcoming themes, players could still see them there, or in the other seasons coming to Overwatch 2 in 2024.
