Re: Stay in your lane; Trudeau must stop meddling in provincial affairs like housing, Brian Lilley column, March 30

I have to disagree with Brian on this one point, about Justin Trudeau stepping down as prime minster and running to become premier of Quebec. Trudeau shouldn’t be in any level of government — unless people want their province/municipality to go belly up.

It’s clear that Trudeau will bend over backwards for Quebec, and the recent health-care deal he made with that province is glaringly unfair. With a total population of just over eight million, Quebec receives well over its fair share of equalization payments even though it isn’t the have-not province it claims to be. It is rich in natural resources, which it is reluctant to access. Why would it? Living off the rest of the country is so much easier.

While the Liberal government brought in child-care, pharmacare and dental-care programs, it did so at the 11th hour because, if it hadn’t, the NDP would have pulled its support. The problem is none of these programs is working properly, coverage is scarce and they have been thrown together with no planning or thought just so the Liberals could claim they did it.

Trudeau isn’t working for Canadians, and that should be very evident by now. Time to go.

PURE RUBBISH

Re: Sound ‘n’ fury; Groups call for protection from noise bylaw fines, March 30

Sam Hersh of Horizon Ottawa wants bylaw to stop ticketing protesters for noise violations. He compares the convoy protest to the Palestinian protesters by claiming the convoy protesters occupied the entire city of Ottawa, which is pure rubbish. The convoy protesters occupied the downtown core; never did they cover the entire city, so please stop comparing the unpeaceful Palestinian protesters to the convoy protesters.

‘CAUSE I’M THE TAXMAN

I was about to write a song parody about Justin Trudeau’s taxes, but why bother? The Beatles did the real thing all those years ago. Google their lyrics to Taxman, with one great line, “If you get too cold, I’ll tax the heat.” Taxman!
