Of all the inane and idiotic bills that the NDP has come up with over the years, and there have been several, this one takes the cake for its utter stupidity.

If Charlie Angus gets re-elected in 2025, that might say more about the voters in Timmins than it does about Angus himself, but, then again, perhaps this bill might make Angus a superstar in the NDP.

WHY EVEN HAVE THE TAX?

If the climate tax is revenue-neutral, then why do we have it in the first place? Getting rid of it would actually save money because I am sure the government is paying millions to administer it.

ESTABLISH FIELD HOSPITALS

Article content

Although I don’t think a long-term ceasefire is possible while hostages are being held, intermittent pauses in Israel’s military actions may be necessary to ensure the flow of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza. I also believe that a general attack on Rafah should be paused until Israel can ensure a safe evacuation plan for civilians from Gaza and adequate tent cities and hospitals to house evacuees. Regardless of whether there is a pause or ceasefire, nations friendly to Israel should offer to establish fenced-in field hospitals on Israeli territory adjacent to Gaza to treat those with war injuries and other medical conditions.

It is much easier for both Stephen Harper and Jagmeet Singh to show leadership on this issue because they both lead or have led parties that are overwhelming on one side or the other of the issue. For example, the NDP wants Canada to stop selling arms to Israel. Although their leadership may be in opposite directions, they can both afford to take a stronger stand than Justin Trudeau.

SOME COMMON SENSE

Bravo! Finally a politician (Pierre Poilievre) who uses common sense. Of course biological males should not be allowed in women’s sports, gyms, change rooms or bathrooms.
