Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update Delayed to 2024

Amid all the hype (and controversy) surrounding Starfield, it’s easy to forget that Bethesda Game Studios is working on a Next-Gen Update for Fallout 4. Though planned for 2023, it’s delayed to 2024, with the development team stating it needs “a bit more time.”

Announced in October 2022, the Next-Gen Update is a free upgrade for Xbox One and PS4 owners. It will add Performance and Quality Modes to prioritize high frame rates and 4K resolution when playing on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. PC players can also take advantage of these features, though more details have yet to be revealed.

The update also contains bug fixes and bonus Creation Club content. It’s unknown if Bethesda will implement Creations as it did recently with The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition, so stay tuned for more details.

According to leaked Microsoft documents, Fallout 4 has shipped 25 million units as of 2020. Check out our review of the base game.
