WRONG REASON FOR DARK DAYS

Re: LILLEY: Freeland warns of dark future in Canada without capital gains tax hike, online, June 9

Chrystia Freeland warned us, before it was passed in the House of Commons, that there would be dark days ahead without the capital gains tax hike? What a total, unadulterated load of hogwash! When the Liberals are in trouble, as polls keep showing they are currently, we can expect fear tactics will come out as we see here. This is one of the dumbest statements made by a Canadian politician ever.

Freeland simply refuses to acknowledge that it is her insatiable appetite for spending, thereby saddling Canada with a humongous annual deficit of about $40 billion, while adding hundreds of billions to the national debt, pushing it over $1 trillion, that spells the real “dark days” for Canadians’s future.

No amount of new revenue will ever keep up to the reckless spending by the Trudeau government. Cannabis was legalized for a new revenue source and that has not met Trudeau’s constant spending demand. This capital gains tax grab will directly punish doctors, farmers, small business owners, fishermen and self-employed Canadians who are without the luxury and security of a government job and its Cadillac pension.

TIME FOR A COMPACTOR

Re: Flat tax in waste plan; City to explore new tech for garbage disposal, June 10

A new waste management plan is coming to Ottawa council. Bin me up, Scotty!

What? Approving a three-container limit in an unavailable bin size was not enough?

The best waste management plan for Ottawa citizens now is a trash compactor. Easier than backing over your garbage bags with the family SUV.

Snuggle your compactor beside that power generator for when the hydro supply goes down.

Increasingly, we must protect ourselves against the failures and follies of “service” providers.

DARK THOUGHTS

Re: Night mayor in the city; Ottawa names Nightlife commish, June 12

Ottawa has hired a night mayor at about $110,000 a year. We already have a nightmare called Trudeau, who is a lot more expensive. We do not need another one.
