SUGGESTIONS FOR SENS

Re: ‘We’re doing it for the fans’; Keeping options open on new rink is a bid to have best location, state-of-the-art building, Feb. 18

I do like the way the Ottawa Senators are trending with the new ownership and looser purse strings. That being said, I do have two suggestions that might just increase fan support.

One, the parking lots after games are a mess, unless you leave the game early, which isn’t optimal with the price of tickets. They need more people directing traffic where people merge from the parking spaces to the main artery. It leaves a bad taste when it takes 45 minutes to leave the lot.

Two, reduce the concessions prices and emulate what has been done in some U.S. cities. By lowering prices, they will sell more and probably achieve the same revenue, but with much happier fans. Beer prices in particular are outrageous.

Just a suggestion from a fan who has attended a few games this season.

THE NEED TO FOSTER HEALING

While serving food with Humanity First’s program to aid the homeless, I encountered a former teacher whose path to addiction began with a prescribed opioid after a car accident.

This encounter vividly underscores the human cost at the heart of Canada’s opioid crisis. This person’s journey from classroom to street corner starkly illustrates the need to foster healing. One way to do this is integration of harm reduction facilities within community health centres to provide a holistic approach to addiction.

TRUMP DIDN’T SAY THAT

According to Warren Kinsella, Trump said he’d call for Russia to militarily attack any nation that has fallen short on its NATO contribution. Talk about mis- or dis-information because Trump said nothing of the sort. Trump said, “I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want.”

Kinsella should seek help — there might be books out there or maybe meetings at his local library where a group gets together to talk about how to cope with Trump Derangement Syndrome. If there are such meetings and Warren decides to attend, I suggest he bring Nikki Haley along with him because Haley also said Trump said he’d encourage Russia to invade our allies.
