Xbox Working on Fix dor Disappearing Baldur’s Gate 3 Saves, Recommends Steps to Avoid It

An issue has surfaced with the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 that is causing users to love their saved progress, but Xbox and Larian Studios are on it. 

Yesterday, the developer released a small update with stability fixes, while Microsoft itself launched a firmware update for the Xbox Series X|S to mitigate the issue, but it wasn’t completely eliminated.

Today Larian Studios’ director of publishing Michael Douse took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that a second update for the consoles to completely fix the issue, also thanking Microsoft for being on top of it. 

Douse also mentioned that the problem should not be present with the upcoming retail version of Baldur’s Gate 3 as long as players keep their Xbox firmware updated. He also signal-boosted a set of steps published by Microsoft that should ensure it doesn’t happen even before a permanent fix arrives.

These boil down to ensuring that the console remains powered even when turned off, making sure its firmware is properly updated, and closing the game completely when you’re done playing. You can read the full details on Microsoft’s own site.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available for PC, PS5, with an Xbox Series X|S port released just a few days ago. The physical Deluxe Edition mentioned above will be released for all platforms in Q1 2024.
