Today Nihon Falcom announced the next game of the beloved Trails, titled “The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki – Farewell, O Zemuria.“
Interestingly, the subtitle “Farewell, O Zemuria” is actually written in English, which is fairly unusual.
The game, which was teased last month, is coming in 2024 and it’s a story-driven RPG like its predecessors. Both platforms and the price have not been announced just yet.
What we do get is a handful of screenshots via press release (which you can see across this page), on top of a few hints about the story.
We learn that Professor Claude Epstein, creator of the Orbital Technology has predicted that the end of the continent of Zemuria will happen in the year 120X.
The X-day is coming close, and a rocket is about to be launched from a large base in the Kunlun region. Will mankind ever make it beyond the atmosphere? What lies at the end of the continent? Will man learn the truth about the world?
In the meantime, while the whole world is watching the greatest project since the dawn of history, a young man called a “Spriggan” who solves problems for a living is converging on a certain place in the autonomous region of Ored with forces from all over the world.
Will the flight toward the distant heavens represent the future of Zemuria? Or…
The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki – Farewell, O Zemuria will be playing the role as the celebratory game for the 20th anniversary of the Trails series.
Unfortunately, there is no word on when the game will come west, and we’ll likely have to wait for a long time.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak (originally known as “Kuro no Kiseki“) will be released on the Western markets in Summer 2024 for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, three years later compared to Japan and Asia.
At this point, we’re basically two games behind since Kuro No Kiseki 2 already launched in Japan in 2022, and the gap doesn’t seem to be closing any time soon.
On the other hand, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3 and 4 will arrive for PS5 on February 16, 2024.
