The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Reveals No Return Roguelike Survival Mode

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Naughty Dog showcased a new mode that is coming with the recently announced The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered.

The mode is called “No Return” and it’s a single-player roguelike survival experience.

You can choose your hero and play through a series of randomized stages set in memorable locations of the game against a variety of enemies, culminating in challenging boss battles.

You can play as a variety of characters including Ellie, Dina, Jesse, Tommy, Joel, Abby, Lev, Yara, Mel, and Manny, albeit you’ll have to unlock some of them before you can use them.

Of course, this is part of the novelty, as mist of them were never playable before. Each character has a variety of skills to suit different playstyles, and there are even unlockable skins to grab.

You can watch the mode in action below and see if it piques your interest enough to grab the game or even double dip. Luckily, PS4 users will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for $10.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered releases for PS5 on January 19, 2024.

It includes visual improvements, 4k resolution if you pick Fidelity Mode, faster loading times, and DualSense integration.

On top of that, the game will include hours of developer commentary, Guitar Free Play with new unlockable instruments, and more accessibility features.

In other Naughty Dog news, we recently learned that the multiplayer game dedicated to the franchise is still in development even if we don’t know how long it’ll take to be revealed, while Sony has revised its plans for live service games.

A while ago, Naughty Dog also revealed that it was working on a single-player experience. Assuming that it’s not this game, it’ll be interesting to see where they’ll bring the IP.
