Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League trailers

Since the game has been in development for a while now, we have been fortunate to get a few different previews.

This started with the game’s teaser trailer, which arrived back in August 2020.

Following on from that, we got a longer cinematic trailer titled “Ticking”, which offered some clarification on the premise and story beats for the game.

We’ve seen more since then too. Standing out in particular is a trailer shown in Summer 2022 which paid tribute to Kevin Conroy’s performance for the game.

Conroy was undoubtedly the most famous and prolific actor to don the mantle outside of the movies, having first come to prominence in the role with the 90s Batman: The Animated Series. Sadly, his role in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be his final performance as the caped crusader, as Kevin Conroy passed away following a long illness back in November. The trailer honours him for his many years of service in bringing the character to life with a simple ‘Thank You Kevin’ with the Batman symbol at the end of the footage.

Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League story

The game’s plot revolves around the four members of an elite team of villains-turned reluctant heroes, The Suicide Squad. Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang are all forcibly encouraged into becoming a task force for the government, in exchange for sentence reductions. As the team name suggests, the ruthless higher-ups primarily send the team on missions that most people wouldn’t come back from.

This iteration of the team is based in the same universe as Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham games, set five years after the previous title.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League release date: A giant mechanised worm looms over Metropolis in front of a skyscraper, glowing bright purple with energy.

Sent into Metropolis on a covert mission, the team quickly discovers that members of the Justice League, including Green Lantern, Superman, The Flash, and Batman, have been brainwashed by longtime comic book villain Brainiac. Wonder Woman appears to be the only member so far that has been able to resist.

Based on this premise and the name, it seems the case that from here, players will be tasked with taking control of the Suicide Squad’s members and killing the rogue Justice League members.

Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League gameplay

The gameplay for this title looks to be set apart significantly from that of the Arkham games. While Metropolis will be an open-world map much like Arkham City and Arkham Knight, this seems largely to be where shared features end.

For one, we know that this Suicide Squad title is going to focus on a faster, more dynamic tempo for its game, styling itself more as an action-adventure shooter. Each of the four not-quite-hero’s look to have their own unique attacks and abilities, which will likely offer a significant amount of versatility when it comes combat engagements.

The game is also set to be a live-service title. It’ll include a battle pass that will offer players cosmetic items, though no in-game boosts or bonuses. We also know the game supports co-op play, and presumably this will fit into the game’s campaign mode, allowing you to experience the explosive fun with friends.

That’s everything we’ve got for you on the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League release date, platforms, trailers, story, and gameplay. There’s every chance we’ll learn more about the title as we near its 2024 release. In the interim, DC fans can still make do with Batman in WB’s MultiVersus – as well as the Caped Crusader’s appearance at the start of Gotham Knights.
