Splatoon 3 Chill Season 2023 To Bring New Maps And More In December

Nintendo has announced the date for Splatoon 3 Chill Season 2023, as well as what content we can expect as part of that update.

The multiplayer shooter’s winter season officially kicks off on December 1st, bringing brand new maps and a new piece of gear to enjoy as well.

This Inkling doesn’t look very chill, eh?

The new stage is the rather delightfully-named Robo ROM-en, which looks to be a robotic ramen joint.

A giant ramen bowl hangs suspended above the stage, but otherwise, it’s the same sort of Splatoon 3 shenanigans you’re used to; plenty of flat surfaces to paint, and lots of nooks and crannies to ambush your enemies in.

A new special ability is also being added in the form of the Splattercolor Screen, which drops a massive barrier on the stage that prevents enemies from firing past it.

You can also look forward to the return of the original Splatoon‘s Bluefin Depot stage, which should bring some memories back if you’ve been a fan of the franchise from the old-school Wii U days.

Chill Season follows on from October’s Splatoween event, which brought spooky new gear, as well as previous 2023 seasons like Drizzle Season and Sizzle Season.

This news also comes hot on the heels of a brand new amiibo range for Splatoon 3, which immortalizes the popular Deep Cut team and lets you steal their looks. Yes, even Big Man!

If you’ve missed out on the Splatoon 3 hype, it’s a Switch-exclusive multiplayer shooter in which players must ink as much of the map as possible for their team in order to win.

Direct confrontation is possible in Splatoon, but it’s de-emphasized compared to other shooters; instead, covering territory with your team’s color is the name of the game, so you can still be the MVP even if you haven’t splatted a single enemy player.

Splatoon 3 is available right now for Nintendo Switch. Stay tuned for more on this game and all other things Nintendo.
