A new Spider-Man 2 trailer has been released as part of the September 2023 PlayStation State of Play showcase, and aside from exhibiting both of the game’s protagonists in action, the lengthy preview also gave us a look at the follow-up’s expanded open-world map, updated graphics, and seamless character switching that should make it easier to patrol the crime-ridden streets of New York.

Of course, the developers are also introducing a faster and more efficient way of traversing through the skyscrapers of the large-scale metropolis with the introduction of the Web Wings, enabling you to glide at high speeds. In addition to these sophisticated new features, senior creative director Bryan Intihar along with the development team at Insomniac Games also gave us a closer look at the villains Peter and Miles will be facing throughout the story, most notably Kraven the Hunter and his similarly dressed goonies.

Towards the end of the trailer, Insomniac Games also revealed that the game will feature over 65 different costumes that you can acquire throughout your adventure. Most of the outfits you’ll be able to equip will be inspired by the different Spider-Man designs that have been introduced in all forms of media, including the movies and comics, so you can expect plenty of content to unlock once the Spider-Man 2 release date kicks off. There will also be a handful of unique and original costume designs, though, so it won’t all be familiar.

If you want to learn more about the upcoming installment, we suggest taking a look at the trailer for yourself below. Alternatively, you can take a look at how a previous Spider-Man 2 story trailer hinted at the true in-game identity of Venom instead, though be prepared for spoilers.
