You can view the announcement below:
Squigly, the graceful and resilient undead opera singer from Skullgirls, has joined the battle in Rivals of Aether! With her spectral dragon Leviathan by her side, Squigly brings a unique blend of elegance and deadly power to the roster. Her versatile moveset and terrifying long range attacks make her a formidable contender in the arena, offering fans of both games an exciting crossover experience. Get ready to unleash her spectral might in thrilling battles against fellow Rivals of Aether characters!
STANCE MECHANIC ~
Squigly’s unique gameplay gimmick revolves around her dual stances, which she can charge and store while on the move, adding an extra layer of tactical mobility to her combat style. In one stance, she amplifies her strong attacks, while in the other, she empowers her special moves. What sets her apart is that each of these charged moves has an even more potent variant when fully charged, adding an extra layer of strategy to her gameplay. When her strong attacks are fully charged, her up-strong gains increased range and devastating power, making it a formidable weapon. The forward-strong boasts extended reach, allowing her to control the battlefield, while the down-strong benefits from an extended lifespan, ensuring it remains a persistent threat.
For her special moves, the forward-special enjoys enhanced range, giving her more options in zoning and controlling space. The up-special transforms into a devastating, high-impact attack version, capable of turning the tide of a battle. When Squigly uses her down-special on the ground, it spawns directly beneath her opponent, catching them off guard. In the air, the down-special becomes a formidable command grab, adding a powerful mix-up tool to her arsenal. Her neutral-special gains the ability to withstand a single hit, providing her with some added resilience in tough situations.
Once either of the two stances are charged, she gains the ability to cancel into any attack from the charged stances when she lands a hit. This dynamic playstyle offers players a multitude of strategic possibilities and keeps opponents guessing, making Squigly a truly formidable force when in advantage!
Fans are more than happy to see their favorite characters in another game, due to the recent controversies with Skullgirls. Some players are even requesting the rest of the roster on the Steam workshop forums.
