Promising Open-World RPG Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon Reveals Gorgeous New Region

Polish Studio Awaken Realms revealed a brand new region coming to its promising open-world RPG Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.

The region was showcased in a new development video and it’s called Cuanacht. The video showcases a large village that encourages exploration and hunting secret areas with its architecture and design.

We also get to see the village’s surroundings, which also look spectacular, with interesting terrain features all over the place.

On top of the region, we also see tweaked lighting settings with rather beautiful light shafts, improved horse riding, the spyglass to observe distant terrain, and some updates to enemies, including shields and weapon drawing animations.

We also hear that the new region of Cuanacht should be added to the game in a couple of months after the developers add meaningful gameplay to it.

You can watch the video below and see how promising this game is. It certainly feels inspired by The Elder Scrolls, but its dark fantasy version of Arthurian legends almost gives it an Elden Ring-like atmosphere.

If you’re unfamiliar with Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, it’s a dark fantasy open-world action RPG currently available in early access for PC on Steam and GoG.com.

The game is developed by Awaken Realms’ video game development arm Questline, and there’s more to it than meets the eye. It’s actually inspired by a board game by Awaken Realms (also known for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The Board Game, This War of Mine: The Board Game, and more) originally funded via a very successful Kickstarter campaign.

The original board game was written by popular Polish fantasy and science-fiction writer Krzysztof Piskorski, known for Cienioryt, Czterdzieści i cztery, and more.

Considering the pedigree and what we have seen today, this game certainly feels promising, so you can expect us to keep an eye on it going forward. Besides, you know that we love board games here on TechRaptor, and it’s interesting to take a look at a game inspired by a tabletop experience that isn’t D&D or Warhammer, for a change.
