In hopes of generating further excitement for the upcoming narrative-driven racing RPG, RESISTOR, PQube and Long Way Home have shared a brand-new trailer offering a first-ever look at its gameplay.
RESISTOR was first revealed back in June 2023, and since then has captivated fans for its over-the-top arcade-style action and striking visuals reminiscent of PS2 racing games. Today, PQube is diving into the details of RESISTOR‘s gameplay, highlighting explosive vehicular combat and stunts.
RESISTOR immerses players in a world where they will compete in races called Dekker’s Tournament. Players will take on the role of Aster, a racing prodigy and the only living child of the last great racer. As Aster enters Dekker’s Tournament, an intriguing revelation gradually unfolds, exposing the truth behind the oppressive mega-corporation hosting the tournament and its enigmatic director.
RESISTOR delivers a full RPG experience, allowing players to customize Aster’s appearance. Players will be able to choose from a wide selection of body shapes, facial features, hairstyles, skin tones, accessories, and even voice types for their own interpretation of Aster as a character.
In addition, Aster’s iconic red and white first-generation R180, which they inherited from their father, the legendary racer Eugene Aster, will also be customizable. As they progress in Dekker’s tournament, players will face challenges that require more specialized hardware. As such, players will collect new body kits and engine parts to modify the appearance and handling of their ride before hitting the track to dominate their rivals in RESISTOR races.
Aster’s journey will begin in The Northern Wastes, a sparsely populated desert expanse where “The Rig,” a decommissioned oil platform, stands. Players will accept their first missions in The Rig, allowing them to master the fundamentals of stunt racing and open-world exploration. As Aster advances through Dekker’s tournament, new areas of the world will be explorable, with increasingly more technical environments and tracks to conquer.
RESISTOR will be available soon on Steam, Epic Games, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
