The next chapter in the episodic puzzle horror adventure, Poppy Playtime, has unfortunately faced another delay in release. Developer Mob Entertainment recently issued a statement on X, detailing their decision to push back the launch of Poppy Playtime Chapter 3: Deep Sleep to early 2024.
Poppy Playtime fans have been eagerly looking forward to Chapter 3: Deep Sleep since it was first revealed in August 2022. Initially slated for release on Poppy Playtime‘s second anniversary, the chapter was later delayed to allow for additional improvements. In November 2023, it was officially announced that Deep Sleep would launch around December 2023, following a seemingly accidental leak of the release window by Mob Entertainment’s Vice President of Operations on his LinkedIn post in October. However, the current situation suggests that this is no longer the case for the next installment of Poppy Playtime.
Once again, Mob Entertainment’s recent statement reveals that the game is not ready for launch and would still need enough time for further development. The developer also asserted their commitment to delivering Chapter 3 as the biggest, highest-quality installment to Poppy Playtime. Dan McLaughlin, Mob Entertainment’s Vice President of Operations, described Deep Sleep as the scariest installment yet in the previously mentioned LinkedIn post. Given the ambitious nature of the next chapter, fans have expressed understanding, anticipating that the delay will result in an experience that will exceed their expectations.
Poppy Playtime has garnered a cult following since its introduction in 2021, with its remarkable characters like the chalk-white doll Poppy, the menacing blue pushy Huggy Wuggy, and the mysterious lore of Playtime Co. With Deep Sleep, the next chapter is expected to expand the narrative with new characters and innovative gameplay mechanics, adding depth to the horror experience.
