Phasmophobia Update Brings Steam Achievements And “Significant” Improvements

Spooky multiplayer ghost-hunting horror game Phasmophobia has received a brand new update, and while it’s not huge, it does bring some pretty major improvements.

Following on from the Halloween event (which has now been removed), the latest Phasmophobia update adds a number of smaller fixes and tweaks, but there are one or two big additions.

The first of these is Steam achievements; you can now obtain 54 different achievements for playing Phasmophobia, ranging from encountering (and surviving) ghosts for the first time to reaching certain Prestige levels.

Achievements should make Phasmophobia a more rewarding experience.

Developer Kinetic Games also says it’s made “significant improvements” to both Phasmophobia‘s performance and its loading times, so you should have a smoother time hunting ghosts now.

Other changes include a change to sky effects if you die, as well as a new SSAO option for VR players and brightness now defaulting to 1 for new players instead of 0.

Most of the remaining changes are smaller fixes and tweaks; both Maple Lodge campfires now have a 5m max hearing range, for instance, and several changes have been made to the Maple map in order to alter safe spots.

You can check out everything that’s changed right here in the latest Phasmophobia patch notes.

If you’re new to Phasmophobia, it’s a multiplayer horror game in which the objective is to identify and deal with ghosts that are haunting a range of different areas.

To accomplish this task, you and your fellow ghost hunters have access to a variety of different tools, including cameras, lights, and detection implements.

The game is technically still in Early Access on PC, but it’s receiving regular content updates, including August’s Ascension update, which retooled progression significantly and added new equipment, plus lots more.

Phasmophobia is available right now on PC. It’s also due to come to consoles at some point in the future, so watch this space for more info.
