New Blue Exorcist Action RPG Game Announced at Jump Festa with First Gameplay

Today Aniplex announced Alterna Vvelt: Blue Exorcist Gaiden, a brand new game inspired by the manga and anime Blue Exorcist.

The game was officially announced at Jump Festa 2024, a big event dedicated to the manga franchises published in the famous magazine Weekly Shounen Jump and its spin-offs currently being hosted at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba near Tokyo, Japan.

It will be released in summer 2024 for PC, iOS, and Android and it’ll be a 3D action RPG.

At the moment, information is a bit scarce, but we know that Alterna Vvelt: Blue Exorcist Gaiden will be set around True Cross Academy and it features a completely original story and original characters designed by mangagka Kazue Kato.

That being said, familiar characters like Rin and Yukio Okumura will also appear and be playable. More information will be forthcoming, but for now, we get to take a look at a few glimpses of the game in the trailer below.

Not only do we get to see the environment of the game, but also full-fledged action gameplay showing both Rin and Yukio in action.

If you’re not familiar with Blue Exorcist, it debuted as a manga by Kazue Kato in 2009 in Shueisha’s magazine Jump Square. It’s still currently ongoing, and it generated multiple anime series, the latest of which will start airing in January 2024.

Incidentally, today we also got a new trailer for the anime series, and you can enjoy it below as a bonus.

This certainly isn’t the first time Aniplex delves into anime games, as it recently launched Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles and it’s working on a party game dedicated to the same franchise. The company has also been particularly active on the visual novel front.

This isn’t the only anime game revealed at Jump Festa, as we also hear da that a fighting game dedicated to Hunter X Hunter is coming.
