MW3 challenges have often been an enjoyable way of playing the latest CoD game while earning exclusive rewards – that is, as long as the mandatory grinding isn’t all that exhausting. Unfortunately, Sledgehammer Games’ latest Ultimate Reward challenge has become just that because it requires you to earn a whopping 1,233,700 XP to unlock the grand prize. This means you’ll have to play over a hundred matches, if not more, which has predictably prompted players to dub the challenge “lunacy.”
The Ultimate Reward, which, if reached, would give you the extremely rare and hellish-looking Magma camo, undoubtedly takes more time to complete than collecting all of the cosmetics in the MW3 camos list. Because of the obscene amount of experience needed to reach the grand prize, some fans have taken to the MW3 subreddit to demand changes to the challenge, as one frustrated player pointed out that “your average Zombies player [only] gets 20k XP per match.”
In a scathing Reddit post, the same user continued: “I’ve been popping off endgame challenges for ages and am just now halfway done. This is with 2XP tokens, which I don’t even know if they help. Believe it or not, we have lives.” Many of the reactions below the same thread echoed similar opinions, as one commenter claimed that they “stopped caring” about the Ultimate Reward after seeing the experience needed to unlock it.
Unfortunately, it remains unclear if Sledgehammer Games plans on reducing the amount of XP needed to reach the Ultimate Reward, as the MW3 developer has yet to comment on these complaints. However, with only a few days left to unlock the grand prize, you may have to wait until the next event to see the much-requested changes come into effect.
