MW3 (2023) Zombies trailer showcases undead hordes and a memorable series villain

A new MW3 Zombies trailer has now been released by Activision, teasing more of the enemies you can expect once you drop into the unique open-world undead experience that’s arriving soon. However, hordes of the walking dead aren’t the only combatants you’ll be facing throughout, as the teaser also showcased the return of another iconic villain: Victor Zakhaev.

Ahead of the Modern Warfare 3 release date, the short video Activision recently posted also includes the source of the sudden zombie outbreak. Naturally, Zakhaev, the Russian ultranationalist arms dealer, caused the undead pandemic after he and his crew retrieved a vial containing an unknown substance that, when inhaled, turns any living or dead being into a mindless brain-eater.

According to an extensive blog post published by Activision, the plan to contain the disastrous outbreak is called Operation Outbreak, and it will feature many of the campaign’s main characters, including Soap and Kate Laswell. As you drop into the Exclusion Zone, you and your group will apparently be faced with “multi-stage tasks” that, of course, include fending off both human and undead enemies.

It’s currently unclear what your main objectives will be, but since the developers have teased it as an extraction mode, you and your group will likely need to retrieve a specific object, which you will need to bring out of the Exclusion Zone. Naturally, other squads will also be able to assist you during this mission, so hordes of zombies won’t be able to overwhelm you.

The PvE extraction mode will be made available alongside the launch of MW3 on November 10, 2023, according to the Zombies trailer. With this in mind, you won’t have to remain patient for too long now, as only a handful of weeks are left until the launch of the highly anticipated next series entry.
