Highlights

A Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 player manages to earn a nuke in less than 30 seconds thanks to a spawntrapping technique that still works on the Shipment map. Although the player achieved an impressive feat, many other fans are unhappy since it further highlights one of the issues with the current spawn system in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Following the release of Modern Warfare 3, Sledgehammer Games reassured players that fan-favorite maps from 2022’s Modern Warfare 2 would be added to the game over time. These returning maps will be reintroduced through Modern Warfare 3 playlist updates, and seasons will bring a slew of all-new maps for players to enjoy as well. This past November, Sledgehammer Games brought back the popular Shipment map in Rustment 24/7, which features both Rust and Shipment in a single game mode. This mode lets players enjoy frantic, close-quarters gunfights to their hearts’ content on two of the most popular maps in the entire Call of Duty franchise, but some fans have not had a great time due to map spawns and the current implementation of skill-based matchmaking.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Trick Makes Tier 3 Loot Easy To Earn

A Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies player discovers an easy strategy that makes Tier 3 schematics significantly easier to get.

Modern Warfare 3 player Chrisable scored an MGB scorestreak, also known as a nuke, in 26 seconds by mowing down 30 enemy players that were spawntrapped on Shipment. Since the spawn system appears to prioritize spawns near teammates that were recently killed, Chrisable’s team was able to trap the entire enemy team in one corner of Shipment as they were spawning on the map. Many Modern Warfare 3 players in the Reddit thread were amazed by this feat, but others were frustrated since the spawn system gave the enemy team a severe disadvantage. Shipment was notorious for its problems in Modern Warfare 2, and Chrisable’s gameplay clip shows that players are still running into similar issues in Modern Warfare 3.

Modern Warfare 3 players who saw Christable’s gameplay clip are calling on Sledgehammer Games to make some changes and adjustments to the spawn system. Some agree that the “revenge” spawn system has been problematic since launch, and others believe Modern Warfare 3‘s version of Shipment also needs changes to its spawn locations to prevent teams from being spawntrapped.

It’s clear that players are still unhappy with Modern Warfare 3’s skill-based matchmaking and spawn system, since the two aspects of the game contribute to a potentially unpleasant experience on some maps. In this case, Christable was able to achieve the game-winning nuke in a matter of seconds in Modern Warfare 3 by taking advantage of the game’s current problems. Fortunately, Sledgehammer Games listens to player feedback and often addresses the community directly, so changes could come in future updates if players continue to voice their concerns.
