Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Guide – How to Quickly Upgrade Suit Tech and Gadgets

Similar to previous games, there are several resources to earn in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. However, you need a good chunk of Tech Parts, City Tokens, Hero Tokens and Rare Tech Parts since they’re required to unlock and upgrade Suit Tech and Gadgets.

Different Suit Tech and Gadgets also become available depending on your level and progress through the story. You should have all five Gadgets – the Concussion Burst, Ricochet Web, Upshot, Web-Shooters and Web Grabber – within the first few hours of the game.

However, you must level up further to unlock different upgrades for each Gadget and spend the above resources to use them. The same goes for different Suit Tech nodes, though at least you can wear whichever outfit you desire since the Suit Tech upgrades are universal.

Let’s check out the various ways to earn Tech Parts, Rare Tech Parts, and the Tokens required for upgrading.

How to Get Tech Parts

Tech Parts are found in Tech Crates scattered throughout the world map. The blue ones contain regular Tech Parts, while the yellow crates have Rare Tech Parts. Whenever near a Tech Crate, it will ping. Scan the nearby surroundings, and you should see it through the walls.

You can also get 100 Tech Parts from Spider-Bot, each conferring a decent amount of XP. They’re also earned by uncovering Prowler Stashes, taking down Unidentified Targets and stopping crimes that crop up randomly.

Keep an eye out for all of the above while exploring, and when you reach level 21, unlock the All Seeing Suit Tech upgrade. It will cause icons for Tech Crates and Spider-Bots to appear on your mini-map. They won’t appear on the world map, and you still have to figure out how to reach them, but this should narrow down their locations.

How to Get City Tokens

City Tokens are earned from completing Brooklyn Visions Academy Requests as Miles, Photo Ops and Marko’s Memories. However, Marko’s Memories aren’t available immediately. You first need to defeat Sandman as part of the story for them to appear. Clear them and you receive City Tokens.

How to Get Hero Tokens

Hero Tokens are earned through several activities, from completing “The Flame” and Cultural Museum missions to clearing Hunter Bases and Symbiote Nests. You can also get them from the rhythm-based Mysteriums, and if you reach a certain score, bonus Hero Tokens are awarded. Since many of these activities can also award unlockables like new Suits, they’re well worth completing.

With all of the Suits, Gadgets, Suit Tech and upgrades into account, there’s a lot to unlock, even past level 60. You don’t need all that to finish the story, but there’s plenty to work towards.
