Pop veteran Madonna is currently making an appearance in Fortnite, specifically to mark the final weekend of the music-focused Fortnite Festival’s first season in a rather unexpected crossover.
Most players are aware that Fortnite Festival was kicked off with the arrival of Canadian singer The Weeknd’s arrival in the game – that also saw him become a playable skin in the battle royale. Well, it turns out that his latest music video is also debuting in Fortnite this weekend, where Madonna is the guest artist.
The song is called Popular, and features The Weeknd, Madonna and Playboi Carti – and is being shown on a dedicated screen on the Fortnite Festival Jam Stage from February 15 until February 18 – and will be, at least for the weekend, the only place to watch the new video.
Of course, the track itself is also now available in the Fortnite shop as a Jam track, that you can get for 500 V-Bucks. And that’s also how we’ve ended up with Madonna – or her social media team at least – tweeting about Fortnite, and we definitely didn’t have that on our 2024 bingo cards.
The announcement of the collaboration also reveals the end date of the first season of Fortnite Festival content. As per the official Fortnite website, we now know that Fortnite Festival’s first season will end on February 22.
While it’s not clear yet which artist – if any – will be the focus of the second season, or what to expect, Jam Track leaderboards do reset after each season, so if you want to cement your scores for this one, you’ve only got a few days left to do so.
Fortnite is no stranger to collaborations with pop icons, of course. Arianna Grande was famously part of the battle royale when she performed a virtual Rift concert in 2021.
