Letter to the editor: City of Ottawa should show speed camera stats

Article content

The City of Ottawa seems to have found a perfect way to reduce automobile collisions and injury on local roads. Speed and red-light cameras apparently are doing a great job and earning a pile of needed cash for the city.

Article content

The city claims it is not a cash grab. If the cameras are truly effective, please show us the statistics for the entire city that indicate the drop in collisions and injury due to automobiles. If the statistics do not show a drop in collisions and injury, the cameras are nothing more than a cash grab.

STOP THE MADNESS

Re: LILLEY: Top court judge’s take on ‘woman’ is no joke, online, March 13

Whenever I think wokeness cannot possibly get any crazier, we get something like this. First we had Ketanji Brown Jackson saying at her confirmation hearing for the U.S. Supreme Court that she was unable to define “woman” as she was not a biologist. Now Canada’s Supreme Court justices also are unable to declare there are only two biological genders, and, rather than using “woman,” prefer “a person with a vagina.” We need truth-sayers to stop woke madness!

I cannot imagine how totally confused young children are becoming having to listen to all the current woke insanity.

NOT POPULAR, INDEED

At an announcement last week, ideology-obsessed Justin Trudeau made the greatest and truest Freudian slip of all time, stating his job “is not to be popular.”

Congratulations, PM Selfie. This is the most accurate, telling pronouncement ever to pass your lips, one that I’m sure even today’s disgruntled Liberals would be hard-pressed to argue against.

Having achieved the reality of knowing your job is not being popular, and having achieved your goal, hopefully your next step will be to rectify the unpopularity shortcoming.

Consider what would be a most popular “next step” you could take to realize your stated objective of “doing what is right.” Do what’s right for our country: quit, leave, depart, resign, walk away, vamoose. Surely it’s not too much to expect.
