Two iconic fighters are making their debut in Mortal Kombat 1. These two characters have been with the series for some time and first appeared in the original trilogy for Mortal Kombat. The two are Quan Chi and Khameleon, who technically shouldn’t be in the game yet.
We have Quan Chi, a well-known sorcerer for their rivalry against Liu Kang. Quan Chi uses necromancy and otherworldly manipulation and is well-known for switching to other characters. In Mortal Kombat 1, he can summon skeletal warriors to fight by his side, summon and shoot projectiles, and create portals to other realms, dragging opponents with him.
The next character coming is Khameleon, a shapeshifter who can become many characters. Khameleon switches between Kitana, Jade, and Mileena. As is expected, Khameleon can use their powers quickly and easily and switch to another ninja on the fly. This is the female version of the character, not the male version, which is named Chameleon.
The fighting style of Quan Chi was on display in the developer live stream (19:46), revealing all of this, and they’re impressive. They’re exactly what you’d want from the character.
They aren’t just new characters on the roster; both get backstories, too. While the developers were not open about what they would be, it would change the timeline for the game. Neither of these fighters were around for the first Mortal Kombat tournament, so this may open up room for other fighters who came to the series later.
This opens the door to Daegon, Rain, and many other characters that didn’t come until much later. We would like to see their current versions and how they will be incorporated into the game, but we’ll have to wait until these characters come to Mortal Kombat 1.
