Farming money in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is pretty easy, thanks to new mechanics like Smackdown for dispatching weaker enemies quickly. However, it’s not the best fit for earning XP, which you’ll want a lot of.
Along with leveling multiple party members, you’ll want to level different classes, otherwise known as Jobs. They provide permanent stat increases upon leveling up, which persist when switching to other Jobs. These bonuses add up significantly as you venture through the game.
Certain Jobs have different conditions for unlocking them. The good news is that you’ll accumulate both character XP and Job XP from battles. The bad news is that the max level for a party member is 99 while each Job maxes out at level 30. Here’s to how maximize those XP gains.
How to Quickly Farm XP
Fight Keepers of the City
While they can be a good source of money, Keepers of the City – essentially like Elites – provide a hefty amount of experience once beaten. They also drop equipment drops and keys for opening safes. Always ensure they’re on the same level or slightly higher than you. Don’t try to fight Keepers who are out of your league.
Fight Higher-Level Regular Enemies
Keepers are a priority, but fighting higher-level regular enemies isn’t a terrible alternative. Look for higher Risk areas (usually the neighboring district) to locate enemies a level or two higher. However, underestimate them at your peril since they can mop the floor with you if your weapons and equipment aren’t up to snuff. Bring enough healing items and deposit excess cash in nearby ATMs to stay safe.
Equip XP-Boosting Accessories
To further increment XP earned, you can equip accessories which boost the same. Ankle Weights is one example, significantly upping the XP earned from battles but decreasing your maximum XP. Equip it when farming, then remove it when story events and boss battles are coming up.
There are also accessories which can increase the amount of XP that Jobs gains, like the Action Star’s Rings of the Master and the Geodancer’s Hibiscus Hair Band. The only drawback is that some accessories drop randomly from battles, so it’s a coin toss as to whether you get one that boosts XP.
Eating Combo Meals
Certain restaurants provide combo meals that boost the amount of XP earned, further adding to the gains. Soleil and 53 By the Sea are good for increasing XP earned. It’s a good idea to save them for boss fights or even against Keepers to maximize the XP earned.
Farm the Hawaiian Haunt and Yokohama Underground
Dungeons return in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and are slightly different from the previous game. They’re randomly generated and comprised of sectors. Each has a recommended party level and ten floors – a save point is available on the fifth floor, allowing you to leave and return (or heal if you want to continue onwards). You can also leave the dungeons after each floor, so take the opportunity if your party is starting to struggle.
The first dungeon, Hawaiian Haunt, unlocks in Chapter 5, and you need to reach the fifth floor of the first sector as part of the story. The second dungeon, Yokohama Underground, unlocks in Chapter 10 and once again, you must reach the fifth floor of the first sector. The third dungeon, The Big Swell, is exclusive to the Master Vacation Bundle DLC and requires finishing the story. In the endgame, details of the dungeon will be revealed, though the first sector requires your party to be level 55. Approach it with caution.
After completing these conditions, you can enter and leave the dungeons whenever you’d like. On top of providing lots of enemies to farm for XP (including mini-bosses), they’re also a strong source of revenue, powerful weapons, gear and more. Completing each sector for the first time nets some good rewards, as does saving all the hostages. Each dungeon offers unique currencies, which can be exchanged with a vendor for more rewards.
