To get out of this rut, you can eventually unlock the Gourmet Cooking skill. This will take time and effort, as you’ll need to hone your abilities in the kitchen before you can start making the good stuff. Here’s how you can unlock the Gourmet Cooking skill and create culinary art in The Sims 4.

How To Unlock The Gourmet Cooking Skill In The Sims 4

As you might have noticed while cooking meals for your sims at home, there aren’t many recipes to choose from at first. You’ll be stuck with the usual easy meals, such as grilled cheese or eggs and toast, with a few bakery items on the side, such as chocolate chip cookies and vanilla cupcakes. However, there’s a way to easily upgrade your sim’s cooking skills and allow them to eventually start making gourmet meals.

To start, you’ll want to hone your Cooking skill all the way to Level 5. To do this quickly, make sure to create some meals on the stove rather than having a quick meal from the fridge. As you reach each new level, you’ll unlock some new recipes, including fish and chips, carrot cake cupcakes, tteokguk, and more. If you want to speed this process up, you can cook multiple meals at once and place any leftovers back in your fridge. Most of your leftovers will last for a few days, so you don’t have to eat each item immediately.

After doing a decent amount of cooking and filling your Cooking skill bar, you’ll eventually reach Level 5, where you’ll now be able to cook gourmet meals. To get started, interact with a stove and choose ‘Cook a Gourmet Meal.’

How To Cook A Gourmet Meal In The Sims 4

After you’ve interacted with a stove, you can finally get started on creating a gourmet meal. The first few options you’ll have are:

  • Garlic Noodles
  • Pasta Primavera
  • Gourmet Fruitcake

These are just a few of the options you have, but you’ll be able to unlock much more as you get further in your gourmet meal-cooking adventure. You can select one of the three to cook, or if you want to step up the quality of your meals, you can do some gardening to get your own vegetables, herbs, and fruits.

This will improve the quality of your meals and will lower the cost of making the food items at home. You can also enhance your fishing skills and get your own fish ingredients, thereby increasing the quality of seafood dishes like Trout Meuniere and Lobster Tortellini. If you have access to some of the expansion packs, you can sell some of your meals for a profit.
