In The Island map, currently the only one available in the game, you’ll find an Ichthyosaurus in the ocean surrounding the island. Head to the edge of the map and have a look around. As they are curious, they will approach you without being hostile, unless provoked, of course.

Just be cautious of all the other dangerous aquatic creatures that you’ll find along the way!

How to tame Ichthyosaurus in Ark Survival Ascended

Taming the Ichthyosaurus isn’t the same as taming other animals in Ark Survival Ascended. You can’t whack it with a wooden bat for a while and force feed it food. It must be done in a non-hostile way.

The Ichthyosaurus is curious, meaning it will approach you. You will need some meat ready, and you’ll have to feed it as it approaches you. You can only feed it when it’s hungry, so if it is full and it isn’t fully tamed, you’ll have to wait for it to get hungry again.

Thankfully, a taming icon will show up, so you’ll be able to identify it and track it no matter how far you go, unless you dismiss the icon.

Feeding the Ichthyosaurus in this way is tedious and tricky, so some would recommend to box it in or use other tamed animals to prevent it from escaping. Once the tame meter is full, you’ll have a tamed Ichthyosaurus!

I hope that this has proved useful, fellow survivor, and that you’ll be finding your first Ichthyosaurus in no time. If you want more Ark Survival Ascended help, look no further than PC Invasion.
