Honkai: Star Rail Passes 1 Million Players on PS5; Who said that Turn-Based RPGs Aren’t Popular?

HoYoverse’s popular turn-based free-to-play RPG Honkai: Star Rail launched on PS5 only one month ago, and turns out it’s really popular, having passed one million players on Sony’s console.

The announcement was made earlier today on social media, and it’s certainly impressive considering that it didn’t take long to achieve the milestone.

The game was released on PS5 on October 11, 2023 alongside version 1.4, pretty much exactly a month ago.

Yo celebrate, HoYoverse sent is sending 200 Stellar Jades (the game’s currency used for the gacha and more) to all players, plus 180 more if the post on its own portal HoYolab receives 10,000 comments, which it already did.

This means that everyone (regardless of platform) is getting 380 Stellar Jades on the house, which isn’t too bad. They will be delivered after November 24. You don’t need to do anything to receive them, as they’ll be distributed to all players that reached Trailblaze level 4.

In the meanwhile, Honkai Star Rail will soon be updated with version 1.5, including three new characters,  five-star Wind character Huohuo and the four-star Physical character Hanya, and five-star Physical characterrAgenti.

As usual, they will be split in two different gacha rounds, one coming on November 15 when the update launches, and one a couple of weeks later.

Besides PS5, Honkai: Star Rail is playable on PC, iOS, and Android, and it’s fully cross-platform, so you don’t really need to choose but you can play anywhere.

Incidentally, if you’re interested in the future of HoYoverse’s games, we have a fresh interview with the producer of the urban action RPG Zenless Zone Zero, which will soon enter a new closed beta phase, with registrations already open.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see whether HoYoVerse will manage to add another successful free-to-play gacha game to its seemingly unstoppable streak.
