Helldivers 2 players have started roleplaying as the Terminids on Reddit, asking for buffs and to be left alone. A new meme is sweeping through the Helldivers 2 Reddit and it’s something the community is embracing in the best way. It should come as no surprise that the Helldivers community is a fun place to be and the jovial rapport between players is shared by the developers at Arrowhead, and this latest trend is more of the same.
While sympathising with the Terminids in any capacity puts you on thin ice with Super Earth in the eyes of Helldivers, the meme has been growing in popularity. The result of this is fans making and sharing funny short animations and posts from the perspective of the Terminids in their posts. What started as posts accompanied with images has since grown to involve gifs, and now there are full-blown animations showing bugs typing away on laptops.
Helldivers 2 fans create funny memes of Terminids asking for buffs
The Helldivers community do a fantastic job of mimicking the funny and satirical tone from the game, and bugs typing on keyboards is something you might expect to see in a Super Earth Ministry of Truth broadcast. Perhaps the bugs know they’re getting beaten with the addition of the Termicide Control Towers.
Arguably the most impressive creation is the video render someone has made of a small Terminid tapping its concerns away on a keyboard, saying: “Let’s all leave and focus on the Western front, the bugs are getting boring plus the Termicide also works on humans I think.”
Another post from someone who is definitely an undercover bug reads: “Dear Arrowhead, the TCS mission is way too easy and boring. Please make it more challenging and fun by adding Stalkers to it. Yours faithfully, a human Helldiver.”
Another post from a clear Terminid sympathiser reads: “The new mechs are extremely weak, they are not worth taking over an Eagle Strafing Run”. While another says: “I’m so tired of those horrible balance patches. There already wasn’t enough chargers on the field and now they’re even easier to kill on top of that?”
As you might expect, the Helldivers community has responded to these bug posts by playing along. One person’s response – pretending to be from Super Earth’s Ministry of Truth – perfectly captures the humour of Helldivers:
“This post is under investigation by the Ministry of Truth. The Ministry would like to thank the loyal Citizens for their reports of suspicious activity. Additional citizenship points may be allocated to those who submit reports that are found to be accurate. May Liberty guide us all.”
Another reply to the Terminid meme says: “It’s been an honor to watch this meme evolve in real time. Almost as fast as the [redacted] evolved the ability to [redacted].”
