Helldivers 2 is a game with one goal, destroy everything in sight in the name of democracy, whether that is exterminating Automatons and Terminids, blowing up buildings and ships, or just shooting your squad for fun. In order to cause more destruction, one player has a suggestion that could lead to some hilarious moments, and I hope Arrowhead Game Studios reads Reddit.

U/Wide_Attention2104 took to Reddit to suggest that “Hellbombs should immediately detonate if a mistake is made while arming. Lots of potential for humorous moments.” If you’re unfamiliar with the game, many of the actions that are used to complete tasks in missions, as well as activating stratagems, are done by inputting a series of arrows using either a controller D-Pad or WASD on a keyboard, such as Down, Up, Left, Down, Up, Right, Down, Up to arm the Hellbomb. If you make a mistake you just start again until you get it right, although the more time you take the more opportunity for your enemies to ambush you.

It would be a fun way to shake up the game and add more pressure if failing inputs had consequences, such as the detonation of the Hellbomb without initiating the countdown timer. U/NotedToad did point out that this mechanic was in the first Helldivers game with a mine sweeping device, which detonated if the code was inputted incorrectly “In the first game there was a mine defusal objective. You’d have to call down a mine sweeping device (a glorified metal detector) and sweep a predetermined area for mines. When you found one, you would have to input a code and if you fucked it up, the mine would detonate along with you. I’d love to see that mechanic come back in some form.” So, it is possible that Arrowhead Game Studios could add this mechanic into Helldivers 2, and I will be eagerly reading every future patch notes in hope it is put into the game.

With Helldivers 2 having friendly fire turned on, Arrowhead Game Studios aren’t above giving players hilarious ways to eliminate themselves and each other. But, the end goal is to be eradicate all of the Automatons and Terminids that stand in your way of democracy.
