If you’ve tried out the jump pack in Helldivers 2, you might not have thought much of it. Sure, it helps you get around a bit faster, climb up to high places, and maybe even dodge a couple attacks. But one craftly player went on the offensive and used it to help absolutely shred a tank in mere seconds.

In a post entitled ‘You can do some really cool plays with the jump pack’, u/Waelder showed off a video of the incredible play. With the tank destroying all the cover around them, Waelder has no choice but to take the fight to the tank.

They charge at it head on, activating their jump pack and flying over the barrage of lasers heading their way to land right on top of the tank. From there, they head to the rear of the tank and start assaulting its weak spot with a laser cannon. After only a few seconds they jump off the tank, just in time for it to spectacularly explode.

The replies were full of admiration for the play, with u/Conscious-Walrus5659 commenting ‘You’ve given me a new combo, much appreciated’. Meanwhile, some jump pack fans were glad to see someone else making good use of the item. ‘The jumppack is a sleeper. It’s such a versatile item.’, replied u/DigiTrailz.

Other players were recounting their own brushes with tanks, with u/GnarlyNarwhalNoms choosing to go out in style. ‘Better yet, stay on the tank when it explodes. I wish I had video. I must have sailed over a couple hundred meters at least’, they said of their own experience.

The post certainly seems to have converted a fair number of people over to jump packs, but some were still hoping to see it get a bit more utility. One of these players, u/urchinNC, noted ‘I’d still suggest them make [jump packs] stronger with more air time and manoeuvrability’.

With so many buffs and nerfs in the most recent update, it’s maybe a surprise that the jump pack was left untouched. But with more to come once we earn the mech update, we’re sure it won’t be long until they receive a bit of a buff.

Whatever your thoughts on the jump pack, it’s hard to deny that it’s great fun to use, and potentially a massive boost in the right hands. Couple it with some of the best weapons and best armor and you’ve got the gear to liberate any planet.
