Forget dolphin dives, MW3 players are frog leaping around maps – and it’s working

Movement is often a big part of any high-profile FPS, and Activision’s latest CoD installment in MW3 is no different. In fact, the entire series has been home to various unique actions, like slide canceling and the dolphin dive, that numerous players have used throughout each match. Now, however, it seems another new move has somehow made its way into the fray in the form of a continuous MW3 frog leap.

With the Modern Warfare 3 release date fast approaching and the beta period already well underway, fans have been able to get a taste of what the newest series entry’s gameplay is like. Naturally, this means most players have been able to experiment with the much-improved movement of MW3, which is why you’ve probably seen multiple instances of slide canceling and dolphin diving in your matches.

One new action you may not have seen before, though, is the frog leap, another type of motion that was recently discovered by a few dedicated gamers. Based on a clip shared through Reddit, this new move is precisely what its name implies – you lie prone on the ground, then quickly leap off it like a toad on the run. Naturally, this erratic motion will make it difficult for enemies to gun you down, as MW3’s aim assist won’t be enough to follow you around.

According to a few reactions, some players aren’t convinced of the frog leap’s effectiveness in matches, as one Redditor said: “Yeah, it’s not useful movement (although I’m sure people on this sub will lose their mind over it.) It’s just funny.” Another commenter added: “Unclear how anyone could struggle to empty the entire mag into someone doing this with aim assist.” “Just a funny troll movement to use against little Jimmy, aged 5,” they finished.

Some, however, are eager to try this gimmicky action out in matches “even if it gets them killed.” Of course, if you want to attempt the MW3 frog leap for yourself, you’ll soon be able to do so on October 12 once the second beta weekend for the game kicks off.
