Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Patch 1.020 Available Now, Improving Graphics, Fixing Bugs, and More

Today Square Enix released a new update for its beloved JRPG Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

The patch is fairly sizable and brings to the table a variety of bug fixes, improvements (including the visuals), and even features.

Players will likely appreciate the addition of difficulty levels to two popular minigames, on top of further control on the looks of the Performance Mode.

The patch notes, shared on the official Japanese website of the game, are as follows.

  • Correction of typos and omissions in some lines of text.
  • Fixed a bug that occurred under certain conditions on the map when controlling a character.
  • Fixed an issue where Red XIII’s abilities Lunatic High and Watcher’s Spirit could easily be canceled during battles.
  • Fixed a bug that caused enemies to freeze under certain conditions during battles.
  • Fixed a progress bug that occurred under certain conditions during quests.
  • Improved frame rate and overall game stability.
  • Added “Sharp” and “Soft” options to the Performance Mode setting.
  • Improved the quality of the graphics.
  • The camera’s inverted setting is now reflected when you glide with a Sky Chocobo.
  • The camera’s inverted setting is now applied to the shooting minigame.
  • Enhanced support while climbing the ivy at the Mithril Mine location.
  • Added difficulty settings to the customization menus for the Fort Condor and Gears & Gambits minigames.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is currently available only for PS5. If you haven’t already, you can still pre-order a physical copy on Amazon. It’ll be interesting to see if it’ll be released on PC as well like its predecessor, but for the moment, no announcement has been made.
