Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Crossover Invades Apex Legends Next Week

Square Enix and Respawn Entertainment announced a crossover coming to Apex Legends to celebrate the upcoming release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

The crossover event will launch next week, on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, and it will last three weeks.

During that time, the Final Fantasy VII Takeover mode will replace the unranked battle royale mode in Apex Legends.

In the new mode, players will be given the ability to use the  Buster Sword R2R5 to dash, block bullets, and attack with a powerful Limit Break.

The mode also introduces “Materia Hop-Ups,” which grants effects like an area-of-effect lightning attack or health absorption. There’s even a SOLDIER Nassie.

If you’d like to look the part, you can get new skins for Wattson, Horizon, Wraith, Crypto, and more.

These are part of a catalog of 36 limited cosmetics inspired by Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, including the  Mythic Buster Sword R5, which is the first Mythic cosmetic that can be equipped by any character.

The skins can be unlocked with Apex Coins and you can get the rest of the lineup by purchasing Event Packs to obtain items from the knockout pool.

Together with the announcement, we get a trailer, which you can watch below.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will launch for PS5 on February 29, 2024 (You can already pre-order a physical copy on Amazon).
