Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Confirms New Chocobo Feature

While Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is still months away, Square Enix shows gamers a new feature that involves the series’ staple chocobos.

The new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth had over two minutes of runtime. It starts with a flashback of Zack Fair meeting his supposed end at the hands of a horde of Shinra troops. Following that, the camera focused on Vincent Valentine’s face, with his red eyes and his pistol focused on Cloud and the party. In a previous trailer, Vincent made his entrance, and sharp fans pointed out that Matt Mercer was the voice before Square Enix confirmed it. Some shots of Kalm, Junon Harbor, and the Gold Saucer were also shown during the trailer. During the Gold Saucer segment, the game’s main theme, “No Promises to Keep”, was briefly revealed and performed by Aerith.

Furthermore, the rough and rugged pilot Cid Highwind made his first appearance in the new series. As a former Shinra pilot who took up residence in Rocket Town, Cid joins the party following an attempt to steal the bi-plane called The Tiny Bronco. The plane was then shot down in a scuffle with Shinra, but could still be used as a boat to travel across some shallow waters. Square Enix then confirmed that J. Michael Tatum would portray Cid in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Tatum takes over for Chris Edgerly, who voiced the foul-mouthed pilot in Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children and Kingdom Hearts 2.

Between the reveal of Cid and Vincent, and the implications of how Final Fantasy 7‘s most shocking scene could play out, the hype surrounding Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has reached a fever pitch. Only time will tell what else Square Enix will reveal before the game’s launch.
