An artistic Pokemon fan has created and shared designs online of what several of the critters would look like as humans, with all of them bearing a striking resemblance to characters that can be found in RPGs. Since the franchise’s beginning, Pokemon fans have been creating unique art of some of their favorite critters and sharing them for others to see. The Pokemon franchise has inspired fans to create pieces ranging from hand carvings to paintings and even home decor, such as this Charmander night light.
With the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the franchise now has over a whopping 1,000 Pokemon. In addition, some of these critters have alternate looks, such as the Paradox Pokemon forms, which means that fans have a lot of pocket monsters to choose from when creating art. One of the most popular ways to depict Pokemon in fan art is by imagining what they would look like as humans, which is also known as “Gijinka.”
Pokemon Fan Designs Human Version of Suicune
A dedicated and artistically talented Pokemon fan imagines what it would look like if the Legendary Pokemon Suicune had a human form.
Going by the handle jimbojims0 on Reddit, one artist posted several Pokemon that look like humans, with their designs reminiscent of characters that could be found in RPGs. Starting with Roserade, the Pokemon is mostly the same in look, with white hair and a green suit that is paired with a mask that is a similar shade, but the critter’s signature red and blue flowers have now been transformed into a red sword and blue whip. Sawsbuck was transformed into a knight that wields four lances, with each representing a season, just like the Pokemon’s seasonal forms. The popular Fighting and Steel-type Lucario now looks like a fighter with flowing blue hair and spiky gloves, while the Psychic and Fighting-type Gallade has a more futuristic design that wields a thin, green sword.
Jimbojims0’s design of Salamence seems to be based on a paladin, which makes the Pokemon look right at home in a Final Fantasy game. The final Pokemon to get a human transformation is Togekiss, who now looks like a bishop out of a Fire Emblem game, complete with a staff and an outfit with red and blue jewels. The post was well received on the Pokemon subreddit, with many users complimenting the designs and remembering the turn-based strategy game Pokemon Conquest, which featured human characters that looked like the pocket pals they controlled.
The Pokemon franchise has been capturing the imaginations of both children and adults alike for the better part of three decades. With the Pokemon Concierge anime and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s Indigo Disk DLC just releasing, as well as Pokemon Horizons coming soon, the Pokemon franchise shows no signs of slowing down and is poised to inspire a whole new generation of fans.
