Eugene Levy has become the latest Canadian to be honoured with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. The official unveiling will take place Friday at 11:30 a.m. PT (2:30 p.m. ET), and will be livestreamed at walkoffame.com.

Levy, born in 1946 in Hamilton, Ont., got his big break in the 1972 Toronto production of Godspell at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, alongside such talent as Victor Garber, Andrea Martin, Gilda Radner, Dave Thomas and Martin Short.

His film debut had been as “coffee boy” in Foxy Lady, a 1971 comedy directed by his college buddy Ivan Reitman. He will be remembered by many Canadians for playing newsman Earl Camembert on SCTV, and probably by many more Americans for his role as Noah Levenstein in the American Pie movies. Globally, he is known for his co-creation of TV’s Schitt’s Creek along with his son Daniel.

His long list of awards includes a Grammy for the song A Mighty Wind from the 2003 film of the same name; a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award; the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal; and a host of Canadian Comedy Awards.

He already has two stars on Canada’s Walk of Fame in Toronto – sort of. In 2002, SCTV was given a star, and although Levy was not among the names on it, he received his own star four years later.

His star in Hollywood, the 2,773rd in its firmament, will be located at 7080 Hollywood Blvd., about two blocks from the famed Chinese Theatre. The dedication will be hosted by Steve Nissen, President and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, and will feature remarks by long-time colleague Catherine O’Hara as well as Levy’s daughter, actress Sarah Levy

“We are very excited to welcome Eugene Levy to the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk. “In addition to his artistic achievements, Eugene has displayed exceptional dedication to his craft and has become a beloved figure in the industry. His professionalism and genuine passion for his work have garnered him the respect and admiration of his peers, and of course his millions of fans.”

Actor Mark Ruffalo is schedule to be getting his own star at the same time, just down the street at 6777 Hollywood Blvd. Since Ruffalo’s is listed as star number 2,772, he will presumably get his first.

There are, by Hollywood’s reckoning, 59 Canadians already on the Walk of Fame, including William Shatner, Mike Myers, Leslie Neilsen, Lorne Michaels, Norman Jewison, Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion and Mary Pickford. But since the records are organized by birthplace, it doesn’t include such Canadians as Reitman, who was born in Czechoslovakia.
