Karlach is an incredibly strong companion in Baldur’s Gate 3, especially when you give her the best feats. In general, everybody gets three feats that can greatly enhance their abilities; these are the three I recommend for Karlach in BG3.
Baldur’s Gate 3: Best Karlach feats
- Savage Attacker – After getting a successful melee weapon attack, roll your damage dice twice and use the highest result.
- Great Weapon Master – When you land a Critical Hit or defeat an enemy with a melee weapon attack, you can make another melee weapon attack as a bonus action that turn. Attacks with heavy melee weapons you are Proficient with can deal an additional 10 damage at the cost of a minus five to your Attack Roll. (This can be toggled on and off.)
- Martial Adept – Gain one Superiority Die and two maneuvers from the Fighter Battle Master subclass. Your Superiority Die refreshes after Short and Long Rests. I recommend Distracting Strike and Goading Attack.
- Weapon Master – You gain Proficiency with four weapons of your choice and your Strength or Dexterity increases by one to a maximum of 20.

Unless you go to Withers and respec her, Karlach is a Barbarian in BG3. Since she is a Barbarian, her playstyle revolves around charging into battle, dealing high melee damage, and tanking hits. with that in mind, the three feats I think are best for Karlach are Savage Attacker, Great Weapon Master, and Martial Adept. If you don’t like one of those, switch it out for Weapon Master.
Savage Attacker
Savage Attacker is a straightforward feat Karlach can use to consistently get higher raw damage. Since Karlach will always be hitting enemies with melee weapons, Savage Attacker makes it so you hit harder. I’d say this is the best first feat you can take for Karlach.
Great Weapon Master
Great Weapon Master is the second feat I recommend for Karlach, and it pairs really well with Savage Attacker. With Great Weapon Master, it will be harder for you to hit enemies, but if you do, you’ll deal much more damage. Also, if you land a Critical Hit or defeat an enemy, you can use your bonus action to attack again which is insanely good.
Martial Adept
Martial Adept is really great for Karlach because with it, she can perform maneuvers that give allies advantage on a target, make a target focus on her, and much more. The only downside to Martial Adept is that you only get one Superiority Die which is used to perform your maneuvers.
If you want to make the most of Martial Adept, I recommend multiclassing into Fighter and more specifically the Battle Master subclass so you get more Superiority Dice and maneuvers at your disposal. Regardless, having Karlach be able to use Goading Attack and Distracting Strike is powerful and handy.
Weapon Master
Different from Great Weapon Master, the Weapon Master feat allows you to put one point into Strength and become Proficient in four weapons of your choosing. There are a lot of weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3 and you’ll often stumble upon really great items that you can’t use. This feat allows you to use those weapons. As I mentioned, only use Weapon Master if you don’t like any of the other three feats.
Though these are the best feats for Karlach in Baldur’s Gate 3, you have three other companions to worry about. If you want to make sure you have the best feats for everyone in your party, learn what the best feats in BG3 are.
