Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox & Physical Release Announcement Teased for This Week

Today Larian Studios teased good news coming for Baldur’s Gate 3 fans who happen to also enjoy Xbox and physical media.

The message, shared on X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate the game’s many nominations for The Game Awards, mentions that fans of Xbox and Physical media should stay tuned for a formal announcement coming this week.

While the tease wasn’t completely explicit, it’s difficult to think about different interpretations from the coming of a release date for the Xbox Series X|S version of the game, alongside a physical release.

Karlach certainly approves of physical things.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been so far released only digitally, but considering the success of the game, it makes sense that a physical release may be coming.

The game was also originally launched only on PC (following about three years of early access) and then PS5 in September. The Xbox version was initially teased as a work-in-progress, held back by issues in implementing split screen co-op on Xbox Series S.

The problem was then solved simply by eliminating the feature (at least temporarily) on the wealer  Xbox console, paving the way for the release which is likely going to be announced later this week.

While we can’t ever be sure until the announcement of a firm release window is made, Larian previously mentioned that the game shouldcons to Microsoft’s consoles before the end of the year.

Xbox gamers (and gamers that may have been on the fence due to the lask of a physical launch) are in for a treat, as yesterday’s triumphant cavalcade of trophies earned by the game at the Golden Joystick awards.
