Baldur’s Gate 3 Achievement Indicates New Difficulty Mode Coming in Later Update

Baldur’s Gate 3 might be getting a new difficulty mode in an upcoming update. Spotted by Reddit user Scornz, the game’s list of achievements on the GOG PC platform includes an achievement dubbed “Foehammer”, which tasks players with completing the game in something dubbed “Honour mode”.

While developer Larian Studios is yet to comment on this, speculation indicates that Honour mode will be an additional difficulty option added to the game. Going by the studio’s history with Divinity: Original Sin 2, Honour mode would be close to a hardcore mode for the game, giving players access to only a single save file and featuring all in-game challenges at the highest difficulties.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been out on PC since August, with a PS5 release following soon afterwards in September. The game is also slated to come to Xbox Series X/S, which the studio has stated is its current priority and slated for release before the end of 2023; recent rumours have pointed to a December 6 release date.
