New Baldur’s Gate 3 Update Is Causing Some Problems

Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 6, which just released on February 16, introduces plenty of bugs and removes some well-liked features.

Hobgoblin Leader Dror Ragzlin

Baldur's Gate 3, Dror Ragzlin The Hobgoblin

Dror Ragzlin is an aggressive hobgoblin and a leader of the Goblin Camp, which players have the option of conquering in Act 1 of the game. As of Patch 6, Ragzlin is the only one of the Camp’s three leaders to have a Legendary Action, as Priestess Gut and potential companion Minthara Baenre still do not.

Dror Ragzlin’s Legendary Action: Devoted Galvanism

  • Once per round
  • If Ragzlin is attacked, he Galvanizes all Absolutists within 5m of him.
  • Galvanized Absolutists gain an Action Surge (one additional action that turn.)

Gaining a new Legendary Action was not the only change made to Dror Ragzlin on higher difficulties. Previously, Ragzlin’s Leadership Aura only granted nearby allies bonus Force damage to their attacks. Now, in Tactician and Honour Modes, this Aura also debuffs enemies who get too close to Dror Ragzlin.

Kar’niss The Drider

BG3 Kar'niss the Drider

The drider (drow-spider) Kar’niss is encountered in the Shadow-Cursed Lands in Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3. He holds a Moonlantern, which is necessary for traveling through the area safely without succumbing to the titular curse. Players can choose to let Kar’niss lead them to Moonrise Towers, compel him to drop the Moonlantern using their illithid powers, or defeat him in battle and claim the Moonlantern as loot.

Kar’niss’s Legendary Action : Fanatic Retaliation

  • Once per round.
  • If anyone affected by Kar’niss’s Spindleweb Fanaticism aura is killed, Kar’niss deals the attacker 6-60 Psychic damage.
  • This may Silence the attacker, temporarily prohibiting them from speaking or casting spells with a verbal component.
  • Note that Kar’niss’s Legendary Action can be nullified by killing all members of the Goblin Convoy before summoning him with the Spider’s Lyre, causing him to fight the player alone with no allies to use his Spindleweb Fanaticism aura on.

In addition to his Legendary Action, Kar’niss now has a special version of the Sanctuary spell called Spindleweb Sanctuary, which is active in both Tactician and Honour Modes. When the Spindleweb Sanctuary condition ends, it explodes in a psychic blast that damages all enemies within range. His Spindleweb Fanatacism aura, which previously only granted bonus Psychic damage to Kar’niss and his allies, now debuffs enemies in Tactician and Honour Modes.

The Shadow-Cursed Shambling Mound

The Shadow-Cursed Shambling Mound is one of the many dangers lurking within Act 2’s Shadow-Cursed Lands. It is found inhabiting a ruined building, alongside several Shadow-Cursed Vine Blights and Needle Blights. Although the Shambling Mound was not technically acknowledged as a boss by the game, it had the difficulty of one, being a Level 9 creature with several powerful abilities.

As of Patch 6, the Shadow-Cursed Shambling Mound “is now a fully-fledged Honour Mode boss,” according to the patch notes released by Larian Studios. It gains a Legendary Action, and also has its existing Tactician and Honour Mode abilities buffed. The abilities that were buffed include Tanglevine Form, which lets the Mound Entangle those who target it with melee attacks, and Magic Resistance, which grants it advantage on saving throws against spells or magical effects.

Shambling Mound Legendary Action: Wretched Growth

  • Triggers if any non-Shadow Cursed Blight creature ends its turn within 5m of the Shambling Mound.
  • The affected creature takes 3-30 Necrotic Damage.
  • Shadow-Cursed Vines appear at the creature’s feat, potentially Entangling them.
