Alan Wake 2 – New Gameplay Showcases Combat, Exploration, Puzzles, and More

After a long, long wait, Alan Wake 2 is now finally approaching release, and with a little over a month left until the survival horror sequel’s launch, new details and gameplay footage are continuing to be doled out at a regular clip. IGN has also uploaded a hands-on preview of the game, revealing plenty of new gameplay footage and details.

Alan Wake 2 is, of course, taking plenty of inspiration from sources like Se7en, Twin Peaks, and Stephen King’s works, and combining that trademark Remedy approach with the atmosphere of Silent Hill and the gameplay style of Resident Evil. All of that is on full display in IGN’s preview, which showcases gameplay footage for Saga Anderson’s third chapter, titled Local Girl, set in the town of Watery.

In addition to showing off some of the game’s open-ended hub-based locations, exploration, and backtracking, the preview also shows off plenty of combat, where dodging and using the flashlight and Saga’s weapons in conjunction is key, as well as some of the puzzles, not to mention some of the game’s investigation-centric mechanics, tied to Saga’s Mind Place. Check out the preview below.

Alan Wake 2 launches on October 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
