Ninja Theory shared a small gallery of new screenshots of its upcoming action-adventure game Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.
Interestingly, the screenshots shared on X (formerly Twitter) aren’t exactly gameplay, although that’s still at the base of the images. To be specific, they showcase the capabilities of the game’s photo mode.
We get to see a couple of close-ups of Senua herself and some wider shots showing off environments and environmental effects. According to the developers, they were shot this week, so they should be from the latest build. You can check them out below.
One thing is for sure, despite the grim themes and the barren environments inspired by Iceland, Ninja Theory’s latest game looks really, really pretty.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will be released quite soon, on May 21, 2024, for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Game pass subscribers on both platforms will also get a chance to play the game at no additional cost.
If you’d like to see more about the game, you can check out the latest trailer from the recent Xbox Developer Direct, a recent developer diary focusing on performance capture, and another look at the Xbox Games Showcase back in June 2023.
If you’re unfamiliar with Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, it’s the sequel to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, originally released in 2017.
The original game pioneered Ninja Theory’s concept of “AAA indie” focusing on creating a triple-A quality game while still sticking to a small and agile development team. The concept paid off and Hellblade was received very positively by fans and critics. You can read our own review that awarded it with a 9 out of 10.
After launching the game, Ninja Theory was acquired by Microsoft and became part of the Xbox Game Studios in 2018. The announcement was made at Microsoft’s Press Conference at the now-defunct E3 show in Los Angeles.
