The Finals Season 2 launched earlier this week, bringing with it a new map, weapons, abilities, and more. This new season looks to be the best update that The Finals has seen so far, with many players calling it “the best shooter right now.” With competition including Call of Duty, Battlefield, Apex Legends, and Fortnite, that is a bold claim to make, but with its concurrent player count doubling since the new update, there may be some truth to it.
Following the launch of The Finals Season 2 on March 14, players have taken to Reddit to praise the latest update. U/Objective-Aioli-1185 said “There’s definitely nothing like it,” while praising the destruction mechanics in the game. Environmental destruction is an aspect that has received a lot of praise from the community, with u/martyFREEDOM comparing it to Battlefield Bad Company 2, and u/_NiceGuyEddy_ likening it to Red Faction.
With so many shooters available to play, it can be difficult to figure out which game is right for you, but for u/Knicka_Pleas it was an easy decision as The Finals caused them to retire from Call of Duty, “Tried to play a Warzone match last week for the first time in months since I’ve been playing Finals, and…How ASS the graphics, fluidity and movement are in comparison was jarring. Not going back again.”
U/Karas69420 has themselves splitting their time between The Finals and Helldivers 2, which is one of the most popular games right now with hundreds of thousands of active players as they are currently taking part in the Terminid Control System community event. One interesting note, that u/caufield88uk pointed out is that both games are made by Swedish developers, could Sweden become the new gaming superpower?
Despite The Finals being regarded as one of the best shooters on the market right now, many players think that the game suffers from a lack of marketing and that most gamers don’t know the game exists, with U/Caperdiaa stating that “almost nobody I talk to knows about it and almost everyone I play with plays it because I got them to download it.”
