If you are looking for a new turn-based builder strategy contained on a hex grid, then boy are you in luck as the new game Odokonia fulfils your incredibly specific requests. Grab your friends and proceed to completely obliterate them in some good old-fashioned explosive fun.
Odokonia is a strategy game where players build up bases around a randomised map in a turn-based fashion, and then delve into the fog of war to find and eliminate each other. There is an incredible amount of synergy between units here, such as soldiers being able to man turrets on boats or dive from them onto enemies for a spot of piracy.
Combat also flows turn by turn, however, HexTech has performed some wizardry to add more action to this usually slow affair. Thanks to action playback grouping, when they mesh together well characters will perform their actions together. There are also combos to discovering between unit actions, with some being shown through the tutorial, but the lion’s share is out there to discover yourself.
HexTech has put in a lot of effort to make sure that Odokonia is a game accessible to all players no matter how busy their lives are. You can use it to stay connected to those pals who only have a minute or two to input a few moves, wherever they happen to be. There is even in-game chat so you can sling those loving barbs close compadres do. Friendship is a funny thing.
It also won’t be a drain on your funds, coming with two ways to play. The first is the dreaded Ad support, although HexTech does say that they aren’t in every nook and cranny, which we shall reserve judgment on. The next is a subscription model for $1.00 a month, a very generous offer, considering everyone starts with a free trial anyway to make sure it’s worth the money, or the ad time.
Odokonia is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
