How to Catch a Blobfish in Stardew Valley

Blobfish can be found only in the Winter season in Stardew Valley unless you use some Magic Bait. If you choose to use Magic Bait, you can find Blobfish on the beach in the southwestern corner. Make sure to fish on the western side of the pier here.

If you’re fishing for Blobfish in Winter, they can be found within the Night Market deep sea submarine. You’ll notice the submarine off to the left side, close to the Desert Trader, giving out coffee for free. To take a trip down here, it will cost you 1,000g. There are a multitude of different fish and items you can catch down here as well, including:

  • Blobfish
  • Midnight Squid
  • Octopus
  • Pearl
  • Seaweed
  • Sea Cucumber
  • Spook Fish
  • Super Cucumber

In particular, you have a 10 percent chance of catching a Blobfish down here. If you use a Curiosity Lure, however, this chance will increase to 20 percent. We highly recommend bringing along the Curiosity Lure to make the fish much easier to find and prevent you from reeling in a ton of Seaweed instead.

If you don’t have a Curiosity Lure, another good option is the Trap Bobber to make it harder for the Blobfish to escape. They are one of the more difficult fish to keep on your line, so adding this will make things much easier. A Cork Bobber can be useful as well to increase the size of your fishing bar.

How to Use a Blobfish in Stardew Valley

Blobfish can be used for a lot of different things besides just selling them. This includes:

  • Used to complete the Master Fisher’s Bundle in the Fish Tank of the Community Center (Remixed)
  • Can be used to create a Maki Roll, Sashimi, and Quality Fertilizer
  • Can be used to tailor a Blobfish Mask at the Sewing Machine
  • Can be placed in a Fish Pond

The best use overall for the Blobfish is to first use it in the Community Center if you’re playing a new game with the Remixed Bundles. Otherwise, selling them or using them in a Fish Pond will be your best bet. At their base, Blobfish will sell for 500g, but an iridium-quality Blobfish sold by someone in the Angler profession can get up to 1,500g for it.

If you place a Blobfish in a Fish Pond, there’s a chance to get Blobfish Roe, Pearls, and a Warp Totem: Farm. Blobfish Roe, when placed in a Preserves Jar, will become Aged Roe and can sell for up to 784g, making it one of the more profitable Artisan Goods you can make in the game.
