A funny Elden Ring clip made its way online recently, showing a player’s encounter with a skeleton whose moves are amusingly similar to that of a Tarnished. The many enemies of Elden Ring tend to be full of surprises, usually of the deadly variety, but in a nice change of pace, this one instead replicated something most players have done at least once or twice during their time in the Lands Between, that being spamming dodge rolls.

The dodge roll is one of the most valuable tools in an Elden Ring player’s arsenal. No matter how one chooses to build up their Tarnished, players are probably going to have to evade attacks at some point, and the brief moment of invulnerability that dodging in Elden Ring provides can mean the difference between life and death. But with how challenging combat can be, it can be tempting to treat dodge rolling repeatedly as a viable tactic for avoiding an enemy onslaught, when odds are that will only succeed in leaving one without stamina when they need it most and getting punished as a result.

Elden Ring Gets First Update of 2024

FromSoftware’s incredibly popular open world Soulslike game Elden Ring gets its first update of the new year.

It turns out players aren’t the only ones that can be enticed by the allure of dodge roll spamming. On Reddit, one player shared a brief clip showing their Tarnished fighting a sword-wielding skeleton, when the undead foe suddenly proceeds to dodge roll non-stop, circling the player in a frantic tumble for several seconds before trying to attack them again. Unfortunately for them, the player – who joked that the skeleton must have been a Tarnished once – manages to parry the blow, and the Elden Ring enemy’s attempt at dodging ends with them being quickly dispatched.

When it comes to enemies in From Software’s hit Soulslike, much of the focus tends to understandably be directed towards the brutal encounters with bosses like Maliketh and Malenia. Even so, the rest of the enemies inhabiting the Lands Between can prove challenging in their own right, and even the most unlikely enemy in Elden Ring can ruin a Tarnished’s playthrough if they’re not careful.

With Elden Ring closing in on its two-year anniversary, anticipation is high for what From Software is cooking up next. It’s been known for a while now that the game is getting a DLC expansion titled Shadow of the Erdtree, though information regarding it has remained scarce. However, recent rumors have claimed that Shadow of the Erdtree could release as soon as next month, so it’s possible that fans will finally get a proper look at the DLC very soon.
